I consider myself as ‘slightly spiritual’ (can you see me do the air quotes with my fingers? 🙂
I believe in energy.
Not exactly the same kind of energy you need to run up a hill, get through a stressful day and juggle work and life . But they are linked.
I’m talking of the energy of the Universe.
Different people trust in different things and have different names for it: God, Buddha, Angels, intuition, gut feeling, ghosts or dead grandmas.
For me it’s energy.
Basic quantum physics: we are all made of molecules. Each molecule is made of atoms and atoms are made of electrons, neutrons and protons. And through Einstein’s formula E=mc2, we have been taught that matter and energy are equivalent and that we can convert energy into matter. Small amounts of matter (like your physical body for example) represent a lot of energy.
That is why I make vision boards which send an energy into the Universe of the things I want to attract. I expect to find parking spaces where I need them and mostly get them 🙂 I bring my own positive energy to every room or situation I enter. And it always sends a ripple effect. Remember the last time you were cheerful and then went into a meeting where the mood was down? Did that affect you? Probably.
That’s the energy I am talking about.
The spiritual path – is simply the journey of living our lives. Everyone is on a spiritual path; most people just don’t know it. Marianne Williamson
Now, some of us are more attuned to this than others. Think about a dog for example, who can sense your fear (your energy), a small child who follows the energy of the mother or the Buddhist monk who just smiles at you knowingly…
Some people also call this ‘having a 6th sense’, ie grasping things that are not graspable through our normal senses.
I have been confronted by this as a child a few times. My grandmother apparently had the gift to heal people with burn wounds. As a kid I thought that was pretty cool. People we didn’t know would call her from afar to ask to help ‘heal’ a member of the family for example and my grandmother would do just that. My parents went to see a homeopath when they couldn’t have children. He was also a ‘healer’. I was born a year later. They also went to see another healer to help my brother with his nervous tics. They disappeared.
And of course you can rationalize all those developments away. But I kind of always liked that little bit of spookiness 🙂
Fast forward to 2017.
I’ve been in a weird kind of funk the past year. My retreats didn’t fill and I had to cancel two of them. I would find myself tired and slightly depressed quite often. I always spun myself out of it. But it kept being a rollercoaster. Which I treated with reflexology, massages, chiropractor sessions and even a watsu session.
But it wasn’t until very recently that I was willing to give Reiki another try. I say another, because I have tried Reiki before and it ‘didn’t do anything for me’ (I’m doing the airquotes again…)
This time it did. The difference being probably that I was ‘ready’ and open for it – if you see what I mean.
Anyhow, I have this very cool friend who happens to also be a Reiki master. You know, the planets aligning and all that… and sending you the right people at the right time?
Remember, we are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience. Stephen Covey
So I had my first Reiki session and it was mind blowing. During and after. It was like my body was saying to me “Finally you are listening to me girl! What took you so long?’.
It is true that I am not really always in tune with my body or listening to its signs. You have a headache? You take a pill. Right? Sure, but that’s just taking care of the symptom, not necessarily, the cause.
I have had two sessions and they were both equally balancing and unsettling. They made me think, notice and become aware. Of things that probably were there all along but never ‘got through to me’ because of busyness, clutter and to-do lists.
Things started happening, changing. Like energy shifting. Within and without. I have been pushed out of my comfort zone. And though it’s scary I know this is where you grow. So I am embracing it, bringing it in, letting it unfold. I have started meditating – something I have tried before but never managed to maintain longer than a few days. So far I am doing well 🙂
People have noticed that my energy changed or shifted. Even my cat seems to behave differently to me 🙂
It’s all good!
Physical strength can never permanently withstand the impact of spiritual force. Franklin D. Roosevelt
So if you are curious about a Reiki session, send me a message and I will refer you to my friend.
Until then, why not order this book and have a refreshing laugh at spirituality.
